Aikido Hapkido of Hendersonville North Carolina

Programs for Adults Children & Families

At Aikido and Hapkido of Hendersonville our award winning adult program is held Monday through Thursday nights from 6:00 until 7:30. Students are encouraged to attend as many nights as possible.

Our focus is developing a strong mind, body and spirit through physical training in the traditional martial arts of Aikido and Hapkido. This training teaches not only two of the most highly regarded self defense arts in the world, but also self discipline, self control, self respect and self confidence.

Our Hapkido program is personally taught by Master Darren Norris, the East Coast representative for the Korean Martial Arts Instructors Association and Hall of Fame Award Winner. The Hapkido program that we teach is approved by the Korean Hapkido Federation world headquarters in KwangJu, South Korea.

The most popular Children's classes in the area are done at our school in conjunction with our partner, Hall of Fame Award Winner, Master Travis Ginn of Ho Sin Sool Dojang. Classes are held Monday and Thursday from 5:00 until 5:45. We have a children's group which includes ages 5-9 and a junior group which includes ages 10-13. Both groups practice at the same time.

What is Hapkido?

The essence of Hapkido lies in the cultivation of Ki energy and the utilization of this energy in the expression of martial arts. The name "HapKiDo" consists of the Korean characters meaning "the way of coordinating energy" or "power in harmony with nature and man". It is a martial art practiced entirely for self-defense. HapKiDo is distinguished by three essential techniques:

  1. Passivity when opposing force
  2. Countering and attacking with circular movements
  3. Absolute penetration of an opponent's defense (the water principle)

Our school is chartered with HaeMuKwan HapKiDo: Recognized as a Certified Style by the Korean Hapkido Federation. For more information about the self-defense practise of HapKiDo, contact our school at 828-388-0635
